Hello,

before I bite off my tongue, here is a short answer:

The basis of the Greens harshly demand a quick shut-off of all NPPs and
their politicians do so, too, as long as they are in the opposition. As
soon as they are in the government they quickly realize that this is
hard to do because of legal obligations, but they have to keep their
basis satisfied. This requires some kind of spagat, sometimes.

The Social Democrats are eager to be good friends of the Greens, partly
because their basis wants them to be, partly because they need the
coalition with the Greens (They are the strongest party but don't have
an absolute majority). On the other hand they tend to keep in mind the
socio-economic facts and necessities and know that a short-term
ecological renewal of the energy sector (drastic cuts in consumption
along with vaste efforts to use solar energy, wind, ...) is not
realistically to be expected. So their aim is a slow phase-out of
nuclear energy, always showing that they strive to this target.

By the way, KKK (Kruemmel NPP) went back into operation on December 24th
with permission of the red-green government.

Greetings from Kiel in Germany
