Galactokinase activity assay

The Biochemistry lab at this Hospital uses C-14 labelled galactose to
assess the activity of galactokinase in patientes suspected of having a
galactokinase deficiency.  

Does anyone have knowledge of, or experience with, a
non-isotopic technique for this assay ?
