And let's not forget that relying on an alarm to sound is asking for 
trouble. There are many documented cases where the alarm was 
not heard due to

1. The speaker wire was damaged, and there was no resultant      	  
    alarm sound
2. The worker is in an area where the background noise level           
    exceeds that of the alarm itself. 

To rely on an alarming dosimeter without properly surveying the 
area is just asking for trouble.
