Test response

Please forgive my test to the list. These email problems are new.

Rather than just write "test, test, test", I'll try a short response to an earlier question.

As most EDs are used with the computer tracking systems, the LLD is some value PER ENTRY, in many cases, 0.5 mrem. So for 100 entries, the LLD is 50 mrem. Most facilities only record dose from the dosimeter if it rounds up to 1 mrem (at 0.5 mrem). I realize that this is the LLD of the ED/computer software combined, but that is the ED system. The LLD of TLD systems depends on the sensitivity of the particular phosphor that is used for low dose measurements combined with the variability of the background. At our nuclear power plant, where personnel TLDs are stored onsite, the std dev of our controls is about 1.5 mrem, leaving us with an LLD of about 5 mrem - over 6 months! Realize, mailing TLDs to another site for processing could make this control variability larger.

Sure hope it's working better. If not, test #2 will be coming.
