An annual excess absolute risk of 2.5E-4 per gray
is the annual risk that will be caused for a number
of years (the risk plateau) following a single expo-
sure. If the plateau length is assumed to be 40 years,
then the total risk of the single exposure will be
40 times 2.5E-4 per gray. The 40 years is not the
length of an exposure but the length of the period
of risk following an exposure.
