Re: Mantles Still Available in US

There was a thread on RADSAFE about a month ago about the availability of
lantern mantles for use as radiation check sources.  While on a recent trip, I
came across a source for such mantles.  The brand name is Century Primus, model
2295 Slip On Lantern Mantles, distributed by Century Tool and Manufacturing
Co.(phone no. 815-332-4951) in Cherry Valley IL.  I bought a  package at a large
retailer of outdoor and sporting equipment located near the Nebraska-Wyoming
border.  After returning to my office and confirming that they were radioactive,
I called the manufacturer directly and placed a larger order.  I suspect that
other sporting goods stores around the country have this brand though it is much
rarer than the traditional Coleman lantern mantles.
