RE: Apology re: CBT

On "advertising" and CBT training:

I think it would be indeed valuable to create a site (Radsafe on line maybe
?) where all course advertisement can be available. I receive some via HPS
and other resources but I would also like to know what is available out
there to humbly improve my knowledge and understanding. I still monitor this
list as I consider it to be a great window on Health physics (theory AND
practice). Some people may like to see on this list more "Schroedinger"s
equations or quantum physics" to challenge their skills, others are simply
there to learn...(you know, I'm only 31 years old so I still have A LOT to
learn)

On CBT training and the WEB:

It it indeed always difficult to talk about your experience and not mention
a certain product. The product is part of your experience...

Let me just tell you that I'm using a CBT course that I created myself using
a new and effective authoring software that assemble together animation,
clip, photos and narrations to create learning modules. So far I finished
the Beta testing for this rad safety course that will serve as a refresher.
People enjoyed the course a lot, (maybe too much since some are interested
to bring the CD-rom home and show their relative what they are doing with
radioisotopes and how safe they SHOULD be...)There is also a test of 30
questions (what is wrong with the picture, multiple choices, asociation,
fill the blancks etc.)and results can be recorded for archive.

The course can be spread on CD-roms, network and soon, INTRANET (with the
technical problems of bandwith linked to that)

Just a small advice: Some softwares now on the market CAN allow you to do a
course like I did as easy as using POWERPOINT, but be aware that for about 1
hour multimedia course, you may have to invest about a 100 hours of your
time.(you can of course sub-contract or hire a COOP student)

For more info, E-mail me personnaly, as I don't want to "advertise" on this
list, but only try to help my fellow radsafers (and my course or services
are NOT for sale...even if I could !)

My opinion only...

Subject: Apology re: CBT

Dear Radsafers,

If my reply to a recent inquiry about CBT programs was irritating to some
because I "advertised" that my university is soon to be offering health,
safety and other related CBT programs, and will make them available
(customized if requested) to other universities, my apologies.

I was, first of all, trying to be helpful. Believe it or not, I get paid all
the same whether what I create is used only at my institution or somewhere
else.
