Responsible for the design, development and implementation of several specialty programs. Design duties include: 1) the enhancement of an environmental monitoring program; 2) enhancement and maintenance of an in-depth x-ray machine program; and 3) assisting with the continued development of the radiation safety audit program. Responsible for conducting many of the daily operational aspects of the Radiation Safety Program. Operational duties include: 1) performing research laboratory health physics audits of radioactive users' facilities, x-ray machines, lasers, microwaves and RF, and hospital facilities and satellite clinics; 2) collection and counting of environmental monitoring samples; 3) providing formal radiation safety training classes; 4) assist with the functioning of the Radioisotope Shipping and Receiving Laboratory; 5) calibrating of various radiation detection instrumentation; and 6) responding to emergencies and spills.

100% Casual position with appointment up to one year. Responsible for many of the daily aspects of the Radiation Safety Program. Duties include performing laboratory audits for radioactive user's facilities; inspecting lasers, microwave producing equipment, and EMF emitters; performing wipe tests on sealed sources; operating the isotope shipping and receiving laboratory; conducting bioassays; calibrating and inventorying survey instruments; gathering and counting environmental samples; responding to emergencies and spills.
