RE: Skin sensitive individual
I have seen, first hand, where an individual broke out in a rash when he entered our Cobalt-60 panoramic irradiator room. He was there to remove some cement block which was stored beneath a false floor in the room. Background radiation is all that was present.
He had been briefed by the irradiator operators that no radiation (above background) was present in the area he had to work in.
After talking with the individual, we determined that his "anxiety" from seeing all the CAUTION RADIATION signs, may have caused the rash. We also reassured him that the radiation in the room could not have caused the rash.
