Changes in DOT Registration Requirements

See the "Federal Register" notice, April 15, 1999, pages 18786 thru 18795.

The DOT is proposing three changes to the registration requirements.

(1) The requirement to register is being extended to all shippers and
carriers
who ship quantities of hazmat that require placarding. This would include
all
Yellow-III packages (eg., radiography sources) and many LSA/SCO shipments.

(2) The annual fee is being increased from $300 to $2000. (There is a small
business exception.)

(3) Additional information will be required on the Registration Statement,
including the SIC code (Don't ask me what this is!).

This is open for comments until June 14, 1999, and there will be a public
meeting of this on May 25, 1999.

If this potentially impacts your operation, you should comment.

The opinions expressed are strictly mine.
It's not about dose, it's about trust.
