Health/Safety Technician Specialist, EH&S Division, Job EHS/10401/CJO
$18.18-$29.94/Hr. Posted April 2, 1999. Open until filled.

DUTIES: Essential -- Reporting to the RWA Program Health Physicist, and
under minimal supervision, is responsible for radiation protection in
assigned area or activity at LBNL. Perform and document radiological
surveys. Analyze smear results using Liquid Scintillation and
Proportional Counters. Investigate and report radiological incidents.
Work with laboratory researchers and other Radiation Protection staff to
ensure compliance with RWA program and regulatory policies and
procedures. Instruct researchers and other personnel in the use of
radiation instrumentation,enclosures, survey techniques, contamination
control and EH&S policies and procedures. Serve as a member of
Department of Energy Radiological Assistance Team.

QUALIFICATIONS: Essential -- Extensive experience as a Radiological
Control Technician, developing and providing technical advice,
instructions, and other services for the purpose of achieving
radiological safety. Demonstrated experience working with radiation
detection equipment. Demonstrated ability to independently perform
routine surveys and audits of radiological work areas. Demonstrated
ability to investigate, report and mitigate radiological incidents.
Advanced technical skills and ability to plan and carry out complex
assignments independently.
