A colleague discussed the following situation with me
today. Although I have a feel for the generic situation,
I would appreciate any input from specialists in the
area.

You can respond to my private email if you'd like, but a
public posting might be quite educational for those of us
who don't do thyroid work on a daily basis.

Thanks,

================
The scenario is:

A 60y/o female being treated for thyroid cancer which has
moved to lungs. Multiple ablative doses have reduced,
but not eliminated thyroid cancer activity as measured by
blood thyroxine levels.

Questions:

What is the lifetime dose of radioactive iodine which can
be administered?

What other target organs (bones? kidney?) would limit the
dose?
