Subj.:	Cal Rad Forum's Annual Spring Conference, Thursday and Friday, 
		May 13-14, 1999 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles near 
LAX

Cal Rad Forum's Annual Spring Conference begins this afternoon at 1:30 with a 
tour of the UCLA PET Imaging Center. The formal program on Friday includes 
speakers on the prospects for safe, reliable disposal of low-level 
radioactive waste in the Southwestern Compact region (Arizona, California, 
North Dakota, and South Dakota) and the proposed Ward Valley disposal 
project, implementation of the federal Low-Level Radioactive Waste Policy Act 
in other regions of the country, treatment and processing of low-level waste, 
the Department of Energy's research program on the biological effects of 
low-dose ionizing radiation, and boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT).
