RE: NRC close to vote on new Westinghouse nuke reactor

Andy hit the key issue. That is the big question, and I believe that
the answer will be big NO! Considering the political environment,
not only in this country, but in the majority of the world, the
momentum is to shut-down the units, not to construct new ones.
The political environment in the US is not favorable for resurrecting
the nuclear power option. Even if there were positive forces within
the govt., that govt.changes every few years, and with that change,
goes the approval, or defeat. The risk of investment is too great,
and I don't believe any utility will take that first step to contract for a
new unit. If they did, I'd expect that the Board of Directors would
come under severe fire from their stockholders. Remember, the
investor in utility stock is in it due to stability. Tackling a new
nuclear unit is not considered stability.
