Re: Release Criteria for Heavy Equipment



On the topic of interest. There should be the use of statistics to free
relase material. A licensee or DOE site does not have the staff and
resources to perform 100% surface surveys for free release. If one wnted to,
they could probably come up with a reason for surveying the engine block,
truck fram, top of bed (material settling out in the form of dust). I do not
beleive the regulators (DOE or NRC) would have a problem with a statistical
approach set down in writting and justified.
