Contamination on WIPP waste container -Reply

This a classic example of how science and the public perception can diverge.  

The facts may be that the contamination on the surface of the Tru-Pac was natural in origin and benign in nature (if that proves to be the case). 

The reality is that this situation gives fuel to those who desire to stop or delay shipment of this type of material.

DOE should anticipate that any irregularities in highly charged decisions will be held against them in the court of public opinion.
