shashkin heads

Folks -- I'm review data from an abandoned uranium mine and one method of
surveying the area is by the use of Shaskin head detectors. The description
of the instrument is given in general terms but can someone enlighten me
more on the usefulness of this set up, its efficiency, and how well it can
be used to characterize uranium and radium in soil samples.

thanks
