Re: The word according to ORISE on DTPA

Scott,
We just got a new shipment of Zn-DTPA and Ca-DTPA in as out other batch was
expired..This is what the informational pack indicates for Contraindications;

Ca-DTPA treatment is contraindicated for minors, pregnant women, patients
with nephroic syndrome, and in paitents with bone marrow depression. (Such
paients may be treated with Zn-DATP.) Ca-DTPA or Zn-DTPA should not be used
as a chelator for uranium or neptunium. Internal contamination with uranium
is currently treated by alkalizing the urine with bicarbonate in order to
promote excretion. DTPA has also been postulated to form and unstable
complex with neptunuim, which may cause bond deposition of this actinide.

Hope this helps
Bob
