Uranium Surface Contamination
To All:
Am interested in the correct classification of uranium surface contamination
on a large quantity of scrap metal (600 - 1,000 tons) and other
construction debris. The majority of structural members have surface
contamination ranging from a factor of 4 to a factor of 100 times the
natural uranium release limits for unrestricted use. It is assumed that the
scrap is LLRW if the uranium remains fixed on the surface. Could residue
from a decon process be considered source material?
