Chechenian theft of cobalt 60

Just got a message from a Swedish news agency (via Itar-Tass) that three 
thieves in Grozny, Chechenia (spelling?) have died from a theft of cobalt 60 
rods. Three others have been hospitalized. A warning to the public to the 
has been sent out by local media. Please help with independent confirmation 
of the story.
