You mentioned high dose rates.

What is the dose?

The ratio gives you the duration of the anomoly.

Brief "excursions" could be due to standing under plant radio repeaters,
often located in hallways, and more powerful than hand held radios..

May try to get locations of radio repeaters and put some EDs under them to
test.  Or test hand held radio with tip on antenna touching ED case over the
detector.

Alternatively, does the problem always occur with the same EDs?
