Re: the RADSAFE tantrum re Lochbaum/NPR/UCS

     Group,

The media will always seek opinions from UCS, greenpeace, etc.

What disturbs me is that in the past the media would contact these
groups to counter the 'official' story. Now they seem to skip the
     'official' story entirely.

EVERY story I have seen so far in the media on the criticality
incident has contained garbled concepts, misinformation, and
erroneous terminology. I have seen that firemen responded to the
incident without their "anti-nuclear" clothing; I have discovered
the incident wasn't as serious as it could have been because "only
radiation, not radioactivity" escaped (???); and of course, we've
all seen that 30-40 responders have been "hurt by" (not just
exposed to) radiation from the incident - a subtle shift in
terminology, and suddenly the injuries are increased an order of
     magnitude.

Apparently reporting inaccuracies and misinformation is O.K. when
the nuclear industry is involved. (Hey, for good measure, why not
speculate about the thousands who will suffer in the future!)

What do we do to get the moratorium lifted on the media contacting
     actual experts for information?
