Gamma Ray Knife
I'm sure that guaranteed safe & easy weight loss will do a lot to boost
radiation's popularity. The article below is from Dr. Dean Edell's Web

Gamma Ray Knife Sliced Through Rats' Appetite
November 03, 1999
A new technique for losing weight might eventually prove to be a
pleasant alternative for obese people who must often go on radical diets
or have their stomachs stapled.
Researchers at the University of Virginia say a single zap of radiation
to the hypothalamus of obese rats caused them to lose weight in a stable
and sustained way over a 34-week period.
This is interesting research that uses a gamma knife to deliver a highly
focused beam of radiation to a specific part of the body, in this case a
gland that regulates certain digestive hormones.
The way the gamma beam works is similar to taking a magnifying glass and
using the sun to burn a leaf. The rays of light aren’t dangerous but
when they’re focused sharply on a certain spot, intense heat gets
results.
Researchers say a single dose of focused gamma knife radiation resulted
in a 15 percent loss of weight in rats when compared to another group of
untreated rodents, according to a report presented at the Congress of
Neurological Surgeons.
While this is still a preliminary study, it shows how far gamma ray
technology has come in showing benefits from zapping certain parts of
the body.
