Try an SAIC PDE-4 with a single 20 foot long extension cable. This is a
very accurate instrument from background to 1 R/hr. Maximum rate is 100
R/hr with 3 foot cables. Battery operated. You could also use the PD-4
with a wireless modem and laptop computer to measure at greater distances.
This would be least susceptible to RF if that is an issue.
