Re: Ag-110m Production

     Jim,

In a former life as an HP at several power reactors, we had to deal
with this. The "O-Ring" (really big one!) that is between the reactor
vessel and reactor head is made of a metal alloy, one constituent of
which is silver. (Silver is used because it's soft.) As the o-ring
erodes/corrodes, silver is released into the coolant system. It's
activated into Ag-110m as it passes through the reactor at power.

I'm not aware of any other sources, but I've been out of that part of
the industry for about 10 years now.

RADSAFER's - can anyone enlighten me as to how Ag-110m is produced in
nuclear reactors?

Thanks -
