Another option would be a small 12 volt DC to 120 volt AC inverter 
available at Radio Shack or other electronic suppliers.  With this you 
could run the irradiator off a automobile battery  -   from the cigarette 
lighter socket.  Be sure you purchase one with enough capacity.  The small 
ones are in the $80 to $100 price range.
