Dear Boise Weekly Editor:

 

Dr. Wollheim chose to quote a "retired major" and "former Pentagon DU
expert" in his September 14 article about depleted uranium, "Caught in the
Cross-Fire." This major is indeed retired, but only as an Army Reserve
officer who is not yet collecting retired pay. Even more important, he was
never assigned to the Pentagon and he is an expert on the biological effects
of DU only in his own mind.

 

Dr. Wollheim has true experts right there on Idaho university campuses, such
as Professor Thomas Gesell at Idaho State, who are not connected to the
military. He should have included some their quotes in his article to
compare with the uninformed, untrue, and grossly exaggerated rants of a
well-known activist.
