Five Health Physicist positions (GS12/13) for US Customs and Border
Protection (USCBP), will be announced on or about February 17, 2006 on
<http://www.usajobs.opm.gov/>. These jobs will close two weeks after
opening. Each will be announced twice; one is a merit announcement for
current/former federal employees; the other will be open to all US
Citizens. Announcements will have further details. Look under the job
series tab and type in 1306. US CBP is a bureau of the Department of
Homeland Security. Applicants will be required to undergo a full background
investigation, regardless of current or former clearance status. The review
and background process is lengthy, typically three to four months. The five
locations are: Laguna Niguel, CA; Seattle, WA; El Paso,TX; Detroit, MI and
Baltimore, MD.


Duties will include ensuring compliance with the CBP radiation safety
program, evaluation of new and existing Non-Intursive Inspection equipment,
port inspections, and  assisting in handling of siezed radioactive
materials.
