AW: [ RadSafe ] "German"

Syd,

What do you think we speak in Austria? What do you think my mother tongue
is?

I assure you that I speak German fluently and I learnt it since I was a
baby. German is spoken not only in Germany and Austria, but also in the
largest part of Switzerland, in Northern Italy ("South Tyrol), in certain
areas in Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovenia, Romania, Russia,
Netherlands, Denmark and Belgium. I met many people in Brazil speaking (an
antiquated) German fluently. So what is your problem? What should I admit?

Maybe it would help US-Americans to get a broader perspective on this world
if they learned foreign languages. I am happy to speak a few languages
fluently (German, English, Swedish), one less fluently (French) and that I
can read and make myself understood in Italian and Spanish.

Furthermore you seem to have a problem with a lack of knowledge about
history. Many countries of nowadays Eastern Europe were part of the
Austro-Hungarian Empire (some for centuries) and all those parts had their
autonomous rights and were not forced to use German.

You also seem to forget, that especially in the beginning of last century
the "lingua franca" in natural science was German and that the largest
number of important investigations on radioactivity and nuclear physics were
published in German.

You support the attitude of this person? Remembering your previous posts I
am surprised.
