Kyle,

This is a pretty common problem and is due to radon progeny. Polyester
pants and hardhats are particularly bad. Spraying with static guard
prior to entry helps.

Subject: [ RadSafe ] Contamination Monitor and Static Electricity

To all,
We have recently installed a new personnel contamination monitor at the
exit of an RCA. We have experienced several alarms since installation
with no confirmed activity after further investigation. There is a
theory going around that it may be due to static electricity. If anyone
has experienced a similar situation and could possibly help me with a
solution if would be much appreciated.
