[ RadSafe ] Security and background check for radioactive materialusers

The NRC does have orders in place for large irradiators and source
manufacturers for background checks and fingerprinting. It is currently
being applied to radiographers and oil well loggers. I think you can expect
the requirement to continue filtering down to users of sources that exceed
quantities of concern.

I would also expect that similar requirements will be applied worldwide as
terrorist issues are recognized in other countries.

Subject: [ RadSafe ] Security and background check for radioactive
materialusers

Good morning,

A couple of years ago I have heard from unofficial sources that USNRC
was thinking about a security or background check for authorized users
of large sealed sources (irradiators for example).

Is this true ? And if so, is it currently in application in the US ?
What is required ?

Would you know any other place in the world where this might be applied
for sealed sources users ?

Thanks in advance.
