Oh, OK... I see now that they are just going to try to add 400 MW to
their current fossil plants I guess, no way you can do a license upgrade
for that much on a nuclear powerhouse. A turbine upgrade might add 30 MW
per plant. So that is worse yet. FPL has made very little commitment to
the 2010 nuclear power initiative, one of the best things to ever come
along in this industry, with presidential support like we will probably
never see again. I have colleagues who have joined the NRC this year to
support license apps for new reactors NOW...and they feel like maytag
repair men, nothing happening, it appears that FPL will not be much help
either. They are waiting long enough to see if anyone else fails when
first one in the water...even though they've had an outstanding 3
decades with their nukes..they are not going to show more confidence to
jump in now and get wet...and support all of us out here who have been
trying to bring the new reactor industry back since TMI.

Ward,
FPL is evaluating nuclear generation capacity increase from their
"existing"
reactors by 2012, and then adding new reactors to their system by 2020.
