RADSAFERS,

The many messages concerning the lack of Tc-99m on RADSAFE were very
interesting, but what I missed, is a survey on where those radionuclides are
produced worldwide - not only with regard to Canada and (Northern) USA. 

There is no doubt that the antinuclear movement has been able to inhibit the
installation of not only nuclear power plants, but also isotope producing
reactors, like the relevant Hanford reactor and even worse has been able to
shut down those already existing.

Yes, Dr. Becker is correct.  This is no surprise.  Several years ago,
when a strike closed down Chalk River, there were similar cries from the
US that they needed additional sources for contingency planning.  Once
the strike was over, that was forgotten.

I do take offence at the comments posted that this has anything to do
with the Canadian Health Care system which I consider to be excellent
and better than the US model.  As a medical physicist who has consulted
for many of the Canadian Diagnostic Imaging Centres, I can attest to how
good our system is.
