Dear Colleagues,
The famous writer C. Northcote Parkinson, father of "Parkinson's Law" [the
amount of time it takes to do a job, expands to fill the time available to
do it"], and a serious author and critic of organizations in his writings
which included 60 books,
See:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C._Northcote_Parkinson
once stated:
"The amount of time devoted to any item in an agenda, is inversely
proportional to its sum"
Translation: the more trivial an item, the more attention it will receive
[and vice versa]. The reality is that most "environmentalists" focus on
trivial sources of total population exposure from nuclear facilities -
thereby ignoring huge integrated population exposures, by comparison, from
often avoidable natural variations in background, and from medical
applications due to poor technique, lack of proper indications for a
procedure, CYA, etc. The more unnecessary radiation exposure, the less
attention paid and vice versa.
The issue and focus on theoretical health effects of tritium posted by Norm
Cohen is a clear example of the above quote, and the foresight and
universality of C. Northcote Parkinson's vision.
