Romi Elnagar continues to beat a dead horse to death -- there were no "uranium weapons" used in Lebanon - her activist friends claim that there were, but the weapons they claim were used don't exist and her message is designed to poison as many minds as possible. Elnagar is virulently anti-Israeli and virulently anti-American - truth and accuracy, things that you would expect out of a retired librarian - retired librarians run Snopes as well, are completely foreign to Enlarger. She wallpapers the net with every single article that she can find about depleted uranium which she terms "uranium weapons" whether or not there is a shred of believability to what she is saying. Unfortunately, it is pretty much impossible to keep up with her misinformation campaign, but it is intended to be deadly, deadly to Americans and deadly to Israel. Here is what others say about "uranium in Lebanon" --

Depleted Uranium (DU) munitions used in Lebanon?

During and after the 33-days war in Lebanon the story was rumored
that the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) should have used DU antitank
shells or other types of munitions made from DU. The attention was
especially focussed on the article "Scientists suspect Israeli arms
used in South contain radioactive matter" by Mohammed Zaatari in the
Daily Star (August 21, 2006) in which nuclear physicist Dr. Ali
Kobeissi, a member of the Lebanese National Council for Scientific
Research said that a crater caused by an Israeli munition in Khiam
contained "a high degree of unidentified radioactive materials." Many
people within the movement against uranium weapons considered
Kobeissi's statements as a "piece of evidence" for the alleged use of
DU by the IDF.

In order to verify or to falsify the assertions that DU has been used
I brought a visit to Lebanon as part of a delegation from the
Amsterdam based organisation Dromen, Denk, Durven, Doen (Dreaming,
Thinking, to Dare, to Do), among others working on human rights issues
and questions on the Middle East.

On September 25 I visited Dr. Kobeissi in Nabatiyeh. He told that he
tested some deep pits made by Israeli weapons with a Geiger counter
from a local scrap dealer and that his results indicated the presence
of uranium. He stressed that he has never said `depleted uranium' and
regretted the political bickerings between different sects. He
measured 50 nanosievert (nSv) per hour in the outside rim of the pits
and 300 nSv in the heart of most pits with the exception of one which
measured 800 nsV/h. He also declared that these dose rates in the pits
decreased considerably day by day. On my suggestion that these higher
measures could be due to the concentration of uranium in the ash
(`concentrated background radiation from the burnt material') he
agreed that this possibility is highly likely.

At his home Kobeissi had collected tens of samples from shrapnel and
soil from more than 50 different places. None of these samples
measured a higher radiation dose rate than the background radiation
dose rate. The samples were measured with a calibrated Geiger counter
from Laka Foundation.

Finally there is no reason to assume that the IDF has used DU antitank
shells. Firstly there were no armored targets in Lebanon and secondly
the Mine clearance teams - present on many places in the south of
Lebanon, especially because of the enormous abundance of cluster bombs
- haven't found no spent DU antitank shells.

According to Peter Boeckhart, who is in charge for making reports in
post-conflict areas for Human Rights Watch, only a few bunker busters
have been used in Lebanon (on bridges), but he couldn't tell me where.
No chance that these munitions were equipped with a load of DU. Instead
of bunker buster types of munitions Boeckhart said that the use of
serial bombing was much more seen. A mosque in Beirut was bombed with
a load of more than 20 tons by serial bombing.

In short, there is no reason to believe that DU weaponry has been used
by Israel.

United Nations Under-Secretary General and UNEP Executive Director

NAIROBI, 7 November, 2006 - The fieldwork of the post conflict environmental
assessment of Lebanon has been completed by a team from the United Nations
Environment Programme (UNEP), which carried out its work in Lebanon from 30
September to 21 October 2006.

The experts covered the following disciplines; Asbestos; Contaminated land;
Coastal and marine issues; Solid and hazardous waste management; Surface and
ground water; Weapons and munitions. From these respective disciplines a
wide range of samples were transported to three independent and recognized
laboratories in Europe for tests.

During the fieldwork one of the UNEP sub-teams focused on munitions used
during the July-August 2005 conflict, and investigated specifically the use
or non-use of depleted uranium (DU) and unconventional weapons. The weapons
sub-team visited 32 sites south and north of the Litani River. Following
strict field procedures a range of smear, dust and soil samples were taken.
The samples were analyzed in October-November at an internationally
recognised laboratory in Switzerland.

The samples taken by the UNEP scientists show no evidence of penetrators or
metal made of DU or other radioactive material. In addition, no DU shrapnel,
or other radioactive residue was found. The analysis of all smear samples
taken shows no DU, nor enriched uranium nor higher than natural uranium
content in the samples.

During the fieldwork, the UNEP sub-team also found that all remnants of
weapons found at sites visited during the period of the assessment could be
identified as being weapons of well-known design. The team also confirmed
the use of white phosphorous-containing artillery and mortar ammunition by
the Israeli Defense Force (IDF).

In the context of weapons used, UNEP agrees with the findings and
conclusions of the mission of the Human Rights Council's Special Rapporteurs
(published 2 October 2006), which recognized the huge number of cluster
bombs with a low detonation rate dropped by the IDF over the last days
before the ceasefire as the main remaining problem to return to normal life
in the affected regions.

The final UNEP Post Conflict Assessment-report on Lebanon will be ready for
publication in mid-December 2006. It is hoped that the report will make a
positive contribution to on-going international and domestic efforts of
reconstruction and rehabilitation in the Lebanon.

Here is where you can read about what a real "bunker buster" weapon is made of -- there is no DU in it

The use of radioactive weapons is in any cases one of the most suppressed fact since its first use in the 1st Gulf war. Since then they where frequently used in Iraq, in Kosovo and in Aghanistan. And recently, obviously during the Israel attack on Lebanon.
Depleted Uranium (DU) is a "Waste" of Nuclear Plants. It is still higly radioactive and toxic. It is devastating to hature and health for generations and the damage is irreversible. It is destroying human cells and DNA and causes deathly cancer (the so called "Gulf War syndrom") and other irreversible diseases. Especially children and unborn life are highly affected. Also Soldiers who got in contact with DU are affected. Many Gulf war veterans are already dead. And their children die as well.
It is contradictionary to the Geneva Convention cause it causes irreversible and uncontrolable damage.
But it is the "silver bullet" for militaries, cause it goes through steel and bunkers like through butter.
below you'll a few links to articles concerning the use of DU during the Lebanon war.
