John,

Let me just make a couple of points:

(1) Let's assume that we are just conversing with ourselves here on Radsafe,
and, whatever we discuss will never see the light of day with respect to the
general public. What we do know is that not all members on Radsafe are
scientists, radiation protection specialists, environmentalists, etc. There
are members of the general public who subscribe to Radsafe, both with a pro
as well as a con opinion with respect to the nuclear option, be it power,
weapons, etc. When we have a dialogue on some topic, no matter how mundane
it may seem, these non-scientists are also "clients" of the process, and,
they can learn and take those lessons learned and take them in whatever
direction they want.

(2) If topics previously discussed are not to be discussed, if news articles
that aren't considered acceptable where no dialogue ensues concerning the
accuracy of what is presented, is not to be discussed, then the question is,
what is Radsafe for and what is it all about. Is it not a forum where one
can request assistance, and, be able to have a dialogue regarding anything
having to do with radiation science?

While many may not care about a specific topic, let's remember there are
probably over 3,000 subscribers (I had access to the membership list years
ago when I moderated the list when Mike was out of the area for a couple of
weeks). Even if it's a list of only 1,000 members, a majority just lurk
(reminds me of the "silent Majority" from years ago). Perhaps Radsafe serves
these silent members well. Should we stop when we don't know if this is
beneficial or not. It is possible that an opinion has been changed by a
dialogue. Just because we don't know when this happens doesn't meant that it
hasn't happened.

Regards,

Sandy
