Jack,

Could very well be. Human nature suggests that individuals do look for input
that supports their own positions. But to say that they do not want accurate
information is a stretch, in my own opinion. My referral to censorship and
apathy is based on some here on Radsafe who do not want to see any news
articles posted in this forum where they believe the article to be false or
not worthy of discussion. They are the censors, and, I am not nor have I
implied that you have asked for this censorship.

I'll simply repeat what I've said before. I search the wire services and
other website where news articles are posted, and if I see one that is
nuclear related, either pro or negative and it appears to be interesting,
I'll post it in my news list. A select few here on Radsafe would like to see
that stop. Now, whether one agrees with or disagrees with the content of the
news release, that is for them to decide. I don't edit, I don't censor the
article, I just post and let the reader determine how important and/or
accurate it is. It's just out there in the media.

Thanks,

Sandy

I don't know where you and John come up with this "censorship" approach.
And "apathy" by definition is indifference. The fact that we're having
the discussion is a clear indication that neither censorship nor apathy
is involved. Therefore, it's apparent that you're using the words for
emotional impact rather than as a result of reason, and that's the same
approach used by those you criticize.

"The public demands information." Yes, but not accurate information.
They're looking for information that supports their preconceived ideas,
because that's what we all do until we're willing to look for reality
instead. People are motivated to a high degree by greed and fear, and
fear of loss is five times greater than the desire for gain. But they
get really motivated when the loss becomes real, and that's the "worst
case" I referred to. That's when pain and its avoidance become the
motivators, and then you'll be amazed at how quickly problems are solved
and fears are overcome.
