reach the list since I was on a different account), well you just stated it 
succinctly.

"Maybe if we understood their motivation, we could prevent future acts of 
terrorism."

Can you understand the killing of innocents no matter how oppressed the 
offenders argue they may be?  I hope you cannot.  Subhuman is a figure of 
speech of course, but if anything is subhuman behavior, it is terrorism. 
Would you have argued we needed to understand motivation at Nuremburg?
