Roy,
As John questioned, there is no information on the detector itself in their
press release. From the commentary, it appears that this s nothing more than
what is currently in use today, a verification after he fact. I also appears
that their device is required to be implanted and then removed where the
dose is verified.
We at GDS have developed an in vivo system using a technology licensed from
the Naval Research Laboratory, that provides real-time dose information
using a copper doped quartz fiber that is < 0.4mm and can be inserted
through a catheter into the area receiving the exposure. No implant,
real-time. This is what is needed for improving patient applications.
Perhaps more information will come forth regarding the article you posted.
