Jeff Lively of Mactec will be making a presentation at the HPS conference in Pittsburgh in July on this topic. He has been working on this problem for some time now. I don't have his contact information with me because I am on travel.

Dear Joel:
I would never use MARSSIM trying to mine uranium. I would use a spatial
statistical approach (geostatistics) using variography for the structural
analysis of the collected data, and estimates of point or block (or panel)
values using an appropriate kriging method.

Subject: [ RadSafe ] Sub-surface MARSSIM
Has anyone tried to apply MARSSIM to sub-surface contamination?? It's not
designed for that, but I've seen it "adapted" for sub-surface use.? Most of
those sites excavate the soil and do a surface survey.? Anyone have anything
to share on this subject?
