I am doing a study on the risks associated with repackaging radioactive
waste to remove 'prohibited items' such as small amounts of liquids and am
looking for any examples of worker contamination or injury that occurred
while repackaging radioactive waste. The current standard is that
radioactive waste containers can not contain more than one percent free
liquid by volume. The basic issue is whether there is a greater health and
safety risk associated with removal of such items or with the transportation
and disposal of radioactive waste containers that contain more than one
percent of free liquids.
Thank you,
