European members of the list, you may want to educate your Members of the
European Parliament.  Dutch Green Eli de Groen, for example, said in open
debate now recorded for posterity that “far less then one microgram of the
material in the body can be fatal to humans” and Italian MEP Stefano Zappalà
(EPP-ED) underlined that uranium "pollutes water, soil and agricultural
crops.  Apparently no knew anything factual about DU, but they voted anyway.

Discussion of Depleted Uranium

Does the European Parliament make any effort the expert opinion of genuine
experts as opposed to the politicized and often false opinions of radical
activists? 

Today’s vote appears to be strongly biased on the basis that no actual fact
was presented to the members. I want to make sure that fact is introduced
into these proceedings. 

The following on your news page is false: 

Dutch Green Eli de Groen said that of EU/NATO members only Germany, Italy
and Ireland supported the UN resolution. "World storage of depleted uranium
weapons is estimated at 1.3 million tons, while far less then one microgram
of the material in the body can be fatal to humans," she told fellow MEPs.
Italian MEP Stefano Zappalà (EPP-ED) underlined that uranium "pollutes
water, soil and agricultural crops". 

One microgram of depleted uranium is not fatal to humans - in fact, the
International Atomic Energy Agency has established that there is no lethal
quantity of Uranium 238, DU, a naturally occurring substance that occurs all
over the world, including within the confines of the EU Parliament building
itself. 

Uranium has also not been found to be a pollutant of water, soil and
agricultural crops. The UN Environment Programme did extensive research in
Boznia-Herzegovina and found that this did not occur. Again, Uranium,
including U-238 is a naturally occurring substance found globally in all
soil, rock, water, and the air. Every single human being inhales and ingests
a minute quantity of uranium every single day of their lives. 

I would expect that your members would not use false information in order to
make their points. Please ask both of these members to personally contact me
and I will make sure that a scientist gets in touch with them and educates
them about the mythology of the anti-depleted uranium crusade started by the
government of Saddam Hussein and carried on by the Greens and Peace
Activists who believe the politics and ignore the science.
