Some weeks ago I posted for help with a defective Exploranium GR-130 portable NaI-Spec.
(Calibration routine failed).
Thanks to the very pleasant help by
Irian Komar
from Radiation Monitor Services
in Kleinburg, Canada
who gave us advice by means of several E-mails
we could fix it with only a screw driver and a HT-Voltage-Multimeter.
That´s what I call good service!
Somebody told me
"[...] an instrument like this, being used for such an
important purpose should be repaired and calibrated by the factory only.
We are talking about instruments with a value of about 10,000 USD each,
compared to that what is postage?[...]"
You are right, but we never used THIS device to produce watertight, lawful, results.
We use it for a quick overview.
As somebody else said in this forum:
"The GR-130 is a rugged, reliable, easy to use, field spectrometer. It is not a
laboratory device. It is not quantitative but you can get pretty good
quantitative data if you train your techs on its proper use. Overall, we have
been satisfied with the unit. "
And the same applies to Irians help.
End of the ad ;-)
