Provisions for Exemption and Clearance

Dear Colleagues,

here are some important news to the conference: the deadline for submission of abstracts was extended from 31.Jan to 13.Feb 2009. 
Additionally, IAEA gives a financial support for participating at this conference in some cases (for national consultants).

The IAEA has given a first draft for the revision of the International Basic Safety Standards (DS 379). For exemption and clearance the relevant values were taken respectively from the EU RP 65 (as in the current BSS) and from IAEA safety guide RS-G-1.7 (values are much lower than listed in RP 65). The IAEA plans to use the values for clearance also for exemption for unlimited quantities. This could be also the basis for the revision of the European Basic Safety Standards. Consequences of such regulations will also be discussed.
