I know quite a few of the members of the editorial board not only
personally, but also from the literature. They sure are not responsible for
what has according to your wording slipped into the journal - it is the
inferior qualification of the referees. Since RPD really is a very
prestigious journal I have problems to understand how something like the
article you mentioned could have been published. Please keep me informed.

Do any of you have a copy of this article?  Since it is written by the
so-called President of the Uranium Medical Research Center founded by Asaf
Durakovic, I have strong reason to believe that this is bogus science that
appears to have slipped into what appears to be a prestigious journal.

Following exposure to aerosols of depleted uranium (DU), biological samples
show the presence of a synthetic mixture of natural uranium and DU. By
partitioning the uranium in the 24-h urine sample along the isotopic
fractions of natural uranium and DU, one can study the kinetics of these
subpopulations independently. A linear model is developed to estimate the
lung burden of DU from measurements of DU in 24-h urine samples, years after
inhalational exposure to aerosols of DU. This model takes into account the
intracellular dissolution of the retained particles and the precipitation of
a significant fraction of the dissolved DU as insoluble uranyl phosphates.
