[ RadSafe ] Power leads

Hi Robert,These are an older type of lead, also found on Hewlett-Packard and Eberline equipment. However exercise extreme caution as there are two wiring conventions. One has earth on the center pin the other has line! The consequences of using the wrong one can be fatal. The earth on center is the preferred standard (CSA Bulletin 895B UL817). You cannot be sure of the wiring by make or model as many have been changed to the preferred wiring. It's recommended that units should be changed to the preferred wiring and labelled appropriately. The old connectors are getting hard to come by. Belden (now Volex) make them, part No. 17280 for the preferred connection, 17952 for the no preferred. If possible get a competent electrician to change them to either an IEC C14 (PC) type inlet (C13 lead) or if there is not enough room, a C6 (cloverleaf) inlet (C5 lead). See http://www.leadsdirect.co.uk/files/IEC%20Connector%20Types.pdf for connector drawings.
Hope this helps,Robert.

Greetings All,

I have a bunch of ancient Ludlum Model 2001 scalers that have an unusual
plug on the side.  It has three prongs (Hot, neutral and ground) that the
power lead hooks into, but they are in a circular pattern.  Do any of you
all have some such thing laying around no longer in use that I can get???

Thanks,

Rob
