I agree. It only takes 10000 volts across a transformer (I believe they use to call them flyback transformers) to generate X-Rays.

Did anyone think check the 'high' voltage on the CRT. This was the problem
years ago when the FDA checked the high voltage on the television sets and
monitors. They would emit X-Rays. The FDA still on occasion check them.

Duh, they could be used to allow terrorists to see in the dark!!! [gasp]
:-) Fortunately, you can still get the mantels on eBay, even if you can't
get them at 7-11 for 59 cents anymore. You might have to outbid me, though,
as I'm still working on my Small Modular Apartment Reactor - Thorium Fueled
for America's Competitive Enterprise (SMART-FACE).
On the Newark airport panic, my wild guess is the laptop's wireless card was
transmitting.
Best regards,
Jim

Hold the door for the stranger behind you. When the driver in the adjacent
lane signals to get over, slow down. Smile and say "hi" to the folks you
pass on the sidewalk. Give blood. Volunteer.
