Assistant Radiation Protection Officer

 

Under direction of Radiation Safety Officer manages operational services
of rad program and supervises field activities of technicians in
providing laboratory surveys, waste management; provides technical and
engineering assistance to promote compliance with radiation related
regulations, permits and university policy. Ensures program is
implemented in compliance with applicable regulations and good practice
guidelines in accordance with commitments to affiliated institutions.

 

Masters of Science in radiological sciences or equivalent and five years
experience with the field operational aspects of a
university/institutional/commercial broad scope, by-product radioactive
materials license are required. Certification in health physics is
preferred.  Experience in radiation protection program management and
supervising professional and technical staff is preferred. Candidate
must possess a strong working knowledge of radiation safety and
transportation regulations, and MA DPH, NRC, and DOT regulations.  Must
take initiative, be organized, able to manage multiple priorities work
independently and as part of a team.  Strong interpersonal and excellent
verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail are
required.  Must be skilled in the use and development of computer
databases and other software.  Must possess excellent time management
and organizational abilities.  Candidate is required to participate in
24-hour emergency response activities.

 

 

The successful candidate will complete pre-employment drug, reference &
background screening as well as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's
Trustworthiness and Reliability requirements.
