Hi Franz,

Yes, it was a joke. The thread was starting to degenerate a bit.

It is a part of our civilization, but the question is it is necessary  
for it to be part of our civilization.

The U. S. government has imposed many "security" related requirements,  
not just in air travel, since 2001. Many of them of dubious value to  
the general security. I have suffered some negative consequences, due  
to my protestations of some of these requirements.

All governments are composed of people and people do not always make  
sound decisions.
