Don't know if the list allows attachments, but to lighten up the thread (and
maybe close it!), here is a picture from the Beach in Guarapari, famous for
its radioactive sands. No! it is not Franz! Although he did tell us he
enjoyed Brazil (as I did for many years!).

The locals (and many visitors) claim that regular exposure to the sands aids
their rheumatoid arthritis.....

Seriously, the line between science and politics has been significantly
blurred in the U. S. since the end of the Manhattan Project. One can
certainly argue whether or not this has been a good thing. While it has
expanded the size of the pot of funding available for science, it has made
many scientists beholden to the politicos. I am not sure that this has been
a good trade.

Radiation Protection is one field that strictly due to the regulation is
highly politicized. Please just keep the discussions civil.
